In August 2004 Lewisham Law Centre entered into a collaboration with of one of the country’s leading personal injury law firms, Leigh Day & Co, to provide new and essential services to the community it serves.
Earlier in 2004, the Law Society changed its rules to allow law firms to pay referral fees to organisations referring cases to them, providing the arrangement is transparent to the clients. Lewisham Law Centre has used this change to bring in Leigh Day & Co a specialist personal injury, clinical negligence and human rights firm to provide advice and services to its clients in these areas and, where the scheme, allows, Leigh Day & Co to make a donation to the general work of the law centre when it takes on a new case referral.
Leigh Day & Co is one of the country’s leading law firms in Personal injury and Clinical Negligence and human rights work. It advises clients in areas of:
- head and spinal injuries
- amputations
- burns
- road accidents
- cycling injuries
- accidents at work
- holiday claims
- occupational disease
Since September 2004, lawyers from Leigh Day & Co have been providing a free weekly advice session (4-6pm) every Wednesday at the Centre.
